Nortel Networks of Brampton, ON, has acquired privately-held Internet consulting firm Dimension Enterprises for US$64.5 million.

The Herndon, Virginia-based company provides services that house servers, routers and storage used in Internet communications and e-commerce. Nortel says the acquisition will help it design and engineer Internet data centres which house the e-business content that fuels the Internet economy and are a key component of the high-performance Internet.

The acquisition strengthens Nortel Networks’ Application Service Provider (ASP) end-to-end offering (the Managed Applications Services Initiative) which was announced in December, 1999.
