World-renowned conductor and violinist Pinchas Zukerman gives a live long-distance music demonstration from New York City to 17-year-old violin virtuoso Wu Jie at the CANARIE Inc. headquarters in Ottawa.

Mr. Zukerman, Music Director of Canada’s National Arts Centre Orchestra, gave the music lesson via CA*net 3, the world’s first national optical fiber R& D Internet network. CA*net 3 is a fiber optic Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) based network that will operate at up to 40 Gigabits per second (Gbps).

The session, held in collaboration with CANARIE Inc. and the National Research Council, was designed to showcase how learning and culture will be delivered to Canadian communities in the near future, using advanced broadband networks.
