Mitel Corp. has announced its intention to add 400 new engineering positions to its semiconductor division, as part of a $20 million expansion to its company headquarters in Ottawa.

The company has launched a world-wide recruitment for a variety of engineering positions, including IC designers for packet switching, ATM and access products, system engineers and architects, and design verification engineers.

Mitel has also started the expansion of its 650,000 square-foot Ottawa campus, which should be completed within one year. The new building will add an additional 100,000 square feet to house the expanded workforce.

Dubbed Phase 5, the new building will include a sophisticated computing and telecommunications IP-based infrastructure, based on high-end workstations, high-speed links to the desktop and the company’s Ipera 2000 IP-PBX.
