MGE UPS Systems has debuted a family of line-interactive UPSs that contain a high-frequency switching technology. Available in power ratings from 500VA to 1200VA, the new Ellipse Premium desktop and rackmount units are designed to maximize the power availability of workstations and small servers.

Despite their compact size (three inches deep), MGE says the units pack enough battery power to keep a Windows NT server running for up to an hour (depending on configuration). Microprocessor-controlled charging extends battery life up to 50 per cent, while smart battery management provides advanced warning when batteries need replacement.

The 650, 800 and 1200 VA Premium models feature load shedding or “PowerShare” technology. By programming the PowerShare outlets, users can assign maximum backup time to the most critical devices.
