The IntelliMac cable management system from iTracs Corp. of Chicago, Ill. monitors the physical infrastructure and reports all Moves, Adds and Changes (MACs) to a database, allowing the network to be viewed in real-time.

The installation requires only four components: sensor strips, patch cords, I/O cables and an analyzer. In February, NORDX/CDT and iTracs announced a partnership in which the two companies will co-market the system.

Features include the ability reduce the costs associated with MACs by up to 50 per cent through a ‘drag-and-drop’ process used to create new work orders. The orders are held in one file to facilitate better change control.

In terms of security, no modification to the connections can be made without the system recording the change with a time and date stamp.
