cabling arena, growth and change are necessary — and vital — to success. In our own efforts to stay on top of this burgeoning industry, we are doing some growing and changing of our own.

Aiming to further expand our coverage of the Canadian cabling and telecom industry, Cabling Systems is pleased to offer three new permanent sections to our publication, each designed to keep you apprised of the issues that affect you on a daily basis.

We have started up a new department called MACs — our own version of “Moves, Adds & Changes”. This regularly featured section (this month on p. 11) will report on company mergers, acquisitions, partnerships and dissolutions — if it happens in our industry, we will tell you about it.

A second department making its debut this month is World Beat (p. 14) — a look at Canadian contracts, both at home and worldwide. Our goal is to shine our spotlight on Canadian companies involved in structured cabling, telecom and networking projects around the globe.

Lastly, we are excited to introduce View from the Board. This column, written each issue by a member of our esteemed Editorial Board, will focus on the hottest, most timely and relevant topics in our industry. These opinion pieces are sure to give pause for thought, and will likely raise discussion on a variety of issues that affect our readers.

Check out our inaugural View from the Board column by Bob Kostash of Lucent Technologies Canada (p. 53), and learn more about a controversial issue that not only affects our industry, but the health and well-being of Canadians in general.

We will be relying on you to help make these new sections successful. If your company is involved in an exciting project, plan or proposition — or otherwise making news — we want to know. Similarly, if you have an idea, opinion or something to say about any of the new arrivals, please drop us a line.

We hope you enjoy the new sections and look forward to bringing you more of the same in the months to come.
