Telecommunications service provider Group Telecom has announced its intention to create approximately 800 technology jobs in the Toronto area over the next five years.
Dan Milliard, CEO of Group Telecom, made the announcement at a ceremony in March that officially opened the doors to its Toronto headquarters, which already employs 200 people.
“Toronto offers Group Telecom the resources, proximity to financial markets and the people we need to become Canada’s leading telecommunications service provider,” says Milliard. “The jobs being created are indicative of the rapidly growing telecommunications service industry in Toronto and the need to provide small and medium-sized businesses with customized, one-to-one solutions.”
The new office will serve as the headquarters for the company’s national operations and house its Network Operations Centre and switching facilities. This locale complements regional offices in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Montreal. The company has a 7,834 route kilometre and 125,953 fiber kilometre fiber-optic network across the country.
