New attentuators from Gloriole Electroptic Technology (GET) Corp. can be applied to adjust the power level of signals in optical communications at the output of light sources, E/O converters and for testing the linearity or dynamic range of optical power meters.

The company’s manually operated VOA model allows for easy accessibility to set or change attenuation levels. According to the company, the design combines the principles of separation, offset, spot-size mismatch and angular tilt to increase or decrease optical power by rotating the right hand side of the device. Attentuation ranges include 0.5-12 dB and 0.5-20 dB.
