Brian Hansen and Christine Klauck throw their hat in the ring for president during 2010-2011 term.
September 1, 2007
Fall is election season at BICSI. From early September to mid-October, the following officers will be elected: President-Elect, Treasurer, U.S. Northeast Region Director, U.S. North-Central Region Director as well as the European Region Director.
BICSI Canadian members have the opportunity to vote for two Board of Director positions in this election — the President-Elect and the Treasurer.
The President-Elect nominees are Brian Hansen, RCDD/NTS Specialist, and Christine Klauck, RCDD/NTS Specialist.
The person elected for this position will become BICSI President during the 2010 and 2011 term. For the Treasurer position, James R. Craig, RCDD/NTS Specialist and Roman Dabrowski, RCDD, are in the running.
When the election opens, all active BICSI members receive an e-mail with the link and password to the election site.
I would like to personally ask you to take a few minutes to read the candidate biographies and plans if elected before you vote.
Then, choose the candidate you feel will best represent you. Unlike many elections, the only requests to vote come from BICSI, as candidates are restricted from campaigning, and therefore, will not be contacting you.
Based on personal experience, I know that everyone involved in the election appreciates you taking a few minutes to go online and vote.
Looking for BICSI Expertise or Seeking a Job in the ITS Industry?: Did you know there is a service available to BICSI members who are seeking employment in the ITS industry? This service is called ITS-Jobs.com and is accessible to you via www.its-jobs.com.
The ITS-Jobs.com job board was designed specifically for the ITS industry, offering BICSI professionals high-quality service and functionality. The BICSI job board functions similarly to other online job sites such as Monster.com and Jobing.com, but is much more focused on our industry.
Job seekers will find it easy to search the job postings by using proactive e-mail search agents or search engines to find jobs by keyword, location or job level. You can post up to three different resumes and cover letters, and you can even make your resume searchable or confidential. If you make your resume searchable, you can track how often employers have viewed it.
Employers who have posted positions can proactively search the ITS-Jobs.com resume database, manage posting online and receive activity reports. Employers will also receive reminder e-mails for job postings that are due to expire.
The service is free for job seekers. Fees for the employers range in pricing depending on number of postings and duration of posting. BICSI members receive savings on postings, ranging from $100 to $800, depending on the previous criteria.
In addition to these, BICSI recently added new features to the job site. For example, the Google Maps feature allows you to gauge your commute and get directions to your interview.
This feature can be accessed directly from the job postings, and it will also use your address from your account profile to show your proximity to the location of the work location.
If you are still not convinced, the current 2007 statistics indicate that there have been more than 200 jobs posted, 500 registered job seekers, 800 resumes posted, 250 employers registered just within this year, and over 56,000 visits made to the site since Jan. 1 of this year. For a job site focused solely on our industry, this is impressive.
I have looked at different job sites just out of curiosity to see who is seeking BICSI expertise and found that outside of ITS-Jobs.com there are not many employers seeking individuals who have a BICSI certification.
If you want a site that really recognizes the value of these designations, consider posting your jobs or your resume to ITS-Jobs.com. It is easily accessible by selecting “Job Board” on the left-side navigation menu of the BICSI home page (www.bicsi.org). Or, you can simply type www.its-jobs.com into your browser address bar.
