Draka Communications Americas has announced that it will begin to offer its bend insensitive MaxCap Bendbright fiber as the default fiber standard in OM3 and OM4 multimode cables. In addition, it will also begin to supply its 150 metre, 10 Gigabit laser optimized fiber as the default fiber standard in all OM2 multimode cables.

According to the company, bend insensitive fiber cables bring immediate benefits to the user through simplified cable routing, reduced attenuation when exposed to tight bends and pressure points, increased cable density in trays and conduit as a result of a smaller diameter cable, reduced cable rework due to tight bends or pressure points on the cable, and improved optical performance

Data centre, campus, LAN, and enterprise projects often encounter tight bends and restricted space requirements.
