Superior Telecom Inc. through its Superior Essex Communications Group, is now shipping the DataGain 450 Cat 6 cable product line for LAN applications. The cables are constructed without a cross-well filler (the typical design approach for Category 6+), yet provide electric performance guarantees that exceed the minimum parameters of industry specification TIA/EIA 568-B.2-1.

According to the company, this approach reduces the cable diameter to 0.20 inches, which allows for approximately 30 per cent more of the 450 cables to fit into a four-inch conduit. The intent, it says, is to provide the contractor/installer with the substantial headroom desired in the real world of imperfect installation conditions.
