RCDD, RITP, DCDC and OSP exams now available at any of the Person VUE testing sites around the world.
July 1, 2012
As we are enjoying the summer holidays at the cottage or in our backyards with great barbecues and cold drinks, it seems like the 2012 Canadian Conference & Exhibition was eons ago.
Over the past few weeks, attendees and exhibitors have commented on the quality of the venue, the presentations and the show floor. I want to take a moment to thank everyone for making this conference such an overwhelming success.
Once again, the Canadian Conference exceeded our expectations, and the excitement for the event was almost contagious. From the Exhibit Hall to the seminars, it was clear that both attendees and exhibitors were quite pleased with the outcome of the conference, and I heard many express their strong support of the conference and of BICSI and the information technology systems (ITS) industry. I’d be perfectly happy if we were to hold a Canadian Conference every year!
If you are looking to follow up the Canadian Conference with even more BICSI education, exhibits and networking, you don’t have to wait long until the 2012 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition, which will be held in Anaheim, Calif., Sept. 16-20.
The conference is set to feature more than 30 technical seminars and sessions, presenting on topics from security integration and wireless utilities to data center strategies and distributed antenna systems. This is one conference you should not miss. Of course, the weather, ocean, golf and Disney aren’t bad, either. Registration is now open. Visit www.bicsi.org/fall to view the conference schedule, see a list of exhibitors, view hotel information and register for the conference.
For those of you that are contemplating sitting for the Electronic Safety and Security (ESS) exam, please remember that the final exam based on the Electronic Safety and Security Design Reference Manual (ESSDRM), 2nd edition, will take place at the 2012 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition. After that date, exams will be based on the updated third edition of the ESSDRM.
Staying with the subject of testing, on May 31, computer-based testing became available for the RCDD, RITP, DCDC and OSP examinations. These exams are available at the many Person VUE testing sites around the world. To locate a site and schedule an exam, visit www.pearsonvue.com/BICSI.
Over the past few months, I have received inquiries related to on-site or suitcase training courses. If you feel that you or your company are interested in any of the BICSI courses and would like to have them taught locally, please let me know. There is a minimum number of students required, as well as other guidelines that must be adhered to, but we will try to accommodate your requests.
Knowledge transfer and education are core values of BICSI, and in support of these objectives, BICSI’s webinar series continues to gain popularity. These webinars are an ideal way to increase your knowledge, stay current and accumulate continuing education credits (CECs) without having to leave your home or office. Check out www.bicsi.org/webinars for the upcoming webinar topics.
Don’t forget, the official Canadian Region group on LinkedIn is up and running. This is a place where you can learn about BICSI and region updates, connect with peers and discuss pertinent topics with other information technology systems professionals from your region.
To become a member of the group, from your Home page on LinkedIn, click the drop-down by the search bar on the top right (it will probably say “People”) and click on “Groups.” Then, in the search bar, type “BICSI Official Canadian Region Group” and click the magnifying glass to search. The official group should be the only one that shows up in your search. Then, look for the yellow box that says “Join Group” and click on that. Then, you can begin interacting with others in the group.
Finally, with one successful Canadian Region Meeting in the books, we have two more educational meetings scheduled this year: Mississauga, Nov. 7; and Ottawa, Nov. 22. Please see the Region Events page under the Events & Conferences tab on the BICSI home page for sponsorship and speaker opportunities.
Your comments, suggestions and ideas are always welcome and are vital to taking the Canadian Region to new heights, so, please, do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing you in the new LinkedIn group, at the upcoming Canadian Region Meetings and at the 2012 BICSI Fall Conference & Exhibition.
