Anritsu Company of Richardson, Tex. is now shipping the ACCESS Master MT9083B Performance Series, an OTDR that has been designed with next-generation optical networks in mind.

It features a user-selectable, dual-circuit design that allows it to conduct high-resolution testing on PON-based FTTx networks featuring up to 64 splits.

In addition, an IP testing option verifies throughput, frame loss and point-to-point connectivity. Connector quality can be verified with an optional connector inspection microscope.

According to the company, a 100 kilometre fiber can be tested in as little as six seconds. Many fibers can also be tested in real time without any averaging due to the high-performance optics in the MT9083B series.
