3Com Canada has released a new Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled switch, new NBX IP telephones and wireless LAN access points. Based on the IEEE P802.af draft specification, any combination of these products can be ubiquitously deployed throughout a network, providing network managers with intelligent detection of powered devices, the company says.

A key component is the 24-port SuperStack 3 Switch PWR, which delivers Ethernet switching with various Gigabit uplink options, hot-swappable stacking and stack-wide link aggregation to enhance backbone performance.

The switch, which lists for $3,745 is expected to ship this month.
