EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. today released the Packet Blazer IQS-8520 Fiber Channel module for testing storage area networks (SANs) on manufacturing floors or inside laboratories.

The SAN module, which is contained inside EXFO’s IQS-500 Intelligent Test System, provides FC-0, FC-1 and FC-2 level testing capabilities, while supporting full-line rate traffic generation at 1Gb/s and 2Gb/s.

According to the company, features such as buffer-to-buffer credit estimation and round-trip latency qualification, enable system configuration and performance management of SANs.

The IQS-8520 also measures accurate bit-error rate (BER) values that reflect the quality of SAN transmission systems, EXFO said.
