Ericsson Canada announced this week that it will relocate its Ottawa labs to a new facility.

Located at 349 Terry Fox Drive in Ottawa, the facility will house the company’s more than 900 employees starting in the summer of 2012.

The move is expected to be completed before the end of 2012.

The lab conducts LTE research, which Ericsson describes as the next step in wireless evolution, which enhances capacity-demanding applications such as interactive TV, mobile video blogging, advanced games and professional services.

It also focuses on CDMA Radio Access development and support as well as advanced wireless research activities.

“Ericsson Canada’s announcement today that they will be moving into new facilities in Ottawa is great news for the city,” said Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson. “It is an important commitment to our technology sector and for the 900 Ericsson employees and their families here in the nation’s capital.”
