Draka Comteq, a supplier of optical fiber cabling, announced today a price increase for its fiber cables in North America.

It said key raw materials used to manufacture these cables — including plastics, aramid yarns and steel — have seen unprecedented and continuing cost increases over the past months.

“We remain focused on providing our customers the highest value fiber cabling products and solutions,” said Allen Griser, director of marketing at Draka Comteq.

“The unavoidable increase in commodity material costs makes this price increase necessary. We continue to actively manage material costs and volatility to ensure a steady reliable supply of quality fiber cabling.”

The company said an updated price structure will go into effect during the first quarter of 2006.
