Draka Communications this week launched a new FTTH offering, the result of a technology agreement with atesio GmbH, a German company that specializes in the area of network optimization

With it, the two companies say that a FTTH network for an entire city comprising of thousands of dwellings can be visualized and automatically cost-optimized.

The firms said in a statement the offering can accomplish in minutes what a network project team could take up to a week to produce, delivering an immediate graphical overview in a GIS such as Google Earth. Draka and atesio gave a live demonstration today at the FTTH Conference in Milan.

“Our partnership with atesio advances FTTH network topology design to help network planners make essential business decisions,” said Dick van den Dool, a director with Draka.

“The results of our cooperation can have an immediate impact on efficiently managing every FTTH site, especially for large city projects in which specific geographical sectors offer the possibility to deliver faster returns on FTTH investment.”
