Dimension Data, a South African IT services provider that operates in upwards of 30 countries, today announced that it has expanded its presence in North America with the opening of an office in Toronto.

Industry veteran Wendy Lucas was appointed area vice president for the Canadian operations, which will focus on the delivery of unified communications to the enterprise and medium commercial market in Canada.

“imension Data achieved significant growth in the first half of our fiscal year (2007), with revenue increasing more than 22%,” said Jere Brown, chief executive officer of Dimension Data Americas.

“By expanding into Canada, (we) establish a footprint into a robust economy and large commercial market.

According to research recently conducted by Datamonitor, unified communications technologies are high on organizations investment agendas and will be commonplace within the next two years.
