Dimension Data Canada appoints new country manager

Dimension Data, the US$7.5 billion ICT solutions and services provider, has announced that Mike Utsal has been appointed Canada country manager. Utsal will oversee market operations and set the company’s strategy to meet the growing demand for business IT services from organizations throughout Canada, the firm said in a release.

Utsal, who replaces former Dimension Data country manager Wendy Lucas, brings 25 years of experience with cloud and ICT-based solutions, serving in executive sales and marketing positions throughout Canada since the beginning of his career. He has been with Dimension Data for over six years, most recently serving as vice president of channels, North America, where he led channel marketing and business development strategies for the IT-as-a-Service unit in the U.S. and Canada.

Previously, he held senior sales leadership positions with Unis Lumin (now Softchoice), NBS Technologies, Cisco Systems Canada, and was co-founder and co-CEO of Pragmatic Solutions, a managed services and consulting technology business.

“Mike has an extensive leadership background and ability to head strategic and tactical initiatives that will help direct our vision for the region,” said Waheed Choudhry, president of the firm’s North America organization, Dimension Data.

“His technology expertise combined with his ability to lead cross-functional teams, develop and execute new business development strategies, and employ his business acumen will serve Dimension Data well in this important market, as he brings leadership experience working with some of Canada’s largest enterprises and multinational corporations.”

Dimension Data first launched operations in Canada in 2007 and is headquartered in Mississauga.
