CommScope, Inc. today announced that China’s Beijing Metro Communication Construction Company (Beijing Metro) plans to install its Extremeflex aluminum 50-ohm transmission system in a portion of its planned underground communications network.

Designed to be one of the new communication links for the 2008 Summer Olympics, this new wireless network is part of the overall telecommunications upgrades planned for Beijing.

The city has 15 subway lines slated to be operational by 2008. CommScope’s aluminum Extremeflex cables and connectors will be installed in a portion of the communications network. When the project is complete, the Extremeflex products will transmit voice, video and data signals throughout the wireless network.

“Wireless telecommunications is increasingly important in the design and construction of metro subway systems across China as the country continuesthe rapid modernization of its infrastructure,” Commscope said in a statement.
