Denver-based comCables is looking for installers of data communications to share information and increase their revenues by promoting improvements in technology, it said in a release issued at the BICSI Winter Conference in Orlando.
Installers are being asked to serve as members of a focus group, which will meet in conference calls four times a year. One goal of the group will be to identify how the convergence of separate Internet Protocol (IP) systems may impact technology capital expenditures in 2010.
The group will be managed and moderated by Tom McAllister, comCables’ director of sales and manufacturing.
“All too often, the professional datacom installer gets trapped in a purchasing cycle force fed by the manufacturer,” said McAllister, a 30-year veteran of the datacom industry.
“This focus group, composed of those closest to the true needs of data communications, will explore fresh ideas, new products and new marketing channels.”
Focus group members will be from leading-edge telecommunications companies in Canada and the U.S. specializing in installing low-voltage systems.
