Chatsworth Products Inc. has released what it calls an industry first a server frame that allows data centre managers to install 300 lbs. of equipment in a single rack.

According to the company, the design of the QuadraRack Server Frame and High-Density Patching Frame reduces installation time and improves the performance of network equipment.

Mounting rack-mount servers onto 4-Post Frames with standard rack channels can be challenging due to clearance issues between channels and mounting rails and stability issues caused when servers are pulled out to full extension, the company said in a release.

The QuadraRack, it said, addresses these issues by way of 14-guage steel used to prevent mounting rails from being twisted when rack-mount servers are pulled out. In addition, an open frame design means that equipment will not be subject to the excessive heat that can be generated in a closed cabinet environment.

The aluminum patching frame facilitates quick attachment of 19-inch wide equipment over 45 rack-mount spaces with threaded attachment points compliant with EIA-310-D.
