Eurocom releases ‘supercomputer laptop’

Kanata, Ont.-based Eurocom says its new Panther notebook is the “first on earth” with a 12 core, 24 thread Intel Xeon E5-2600 V2 processor, 6 TB of storage and RAID 0/1/5/10.

“It’s a server or workstation-calibre computer complete with built-in UPS in a 12 pound-notebook form factor,” said Mark Bialic, president of Eurocom.

In terms of operating systems, the Panther supports Windows 8, Windows 7, Microsoft Server 2012, RedHat Enterprise Linux Server Edition 6.4 and VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.5.

According to the company, the “supercomputer” has the performance capabilities of a data centre server in a portable form factor, complete with workstation tools such as keyboard and monitor.
