Bell Security Solutons Inc. (BSSI) and Fusepoint Managed Services Inc. have signed a contract with Maple Leaf Foods in which the two will manage power, cooling, cabling and security at the firm’s Toronto data centre.

Under terms of the deal, BSSI and Fusepoint say they will guarantee availability of mission-critical systems in the event a natural catastrophe, security threat or act of terrorism should occur.

“With a steady rise in security threats such as viruses, worms or unforeseen events such as the 2003 blackout and recent terrorist acts, customers are increasingly looking to technology partners to provide solutions that protect their mission-critical applications,” said Charles Salameh, president of BSSI.

Services include managed hardware, managed operating systems, web applications, database management, data back-up, firewall security, intrusion detection service and end-to-end monitoring and reporting.

“At Maple Leaf Foods we maintain the highest standards of food safety assurance,” said Patrick Ressa, the company’s chief information officer. “We also apply the most stringent standards to other facets of the business, including our IT systems and applications.”
