Copper and fiber optic cabling vendor Berk-Tek has been awarded a TL 9000 Code of Practice for Quality Systems certificate from Underwriter Laboratories Inc. (UL) for its New Holland, Pa. factory.

TL 9000 compliance requires the tracking of key performance indicators such as on time delivery in full, response time to meet customer needs, and reducing the time to market for new products and services.

The standard was originally created by the QuEST Forum, an organization formed in 1996 to establish better quality requirements for the industry and create a consistent set of quality system requirements that would apply to the global telecom industry.

TL 9000 defines quality system requirements for the design, development, production, delivery, installation and maintenance of telecom products and services.
