AT&T Global Services Canada has announced a contribution of US$30,000 to The Little Geeks Foundation, a Toronto-based charitable organization that provides free computing technology and Internet access by collecting, refurbishing and redistributing donated computers to children and families who cannot afford this resource on their own.

With the donation, 200 computers were distributed to children, schools and community centres across the greater Toronto area. An additional 300 computers will be distributed over the next six months.

“As a technology provider here in Canada, we understand the critical role a computer can play in a child’s education,” said Aisha Umar, Sales Centre Vice President, AT&T Global Services Canada. “Every day, children across Toronto struggle in school because they do not have the tools to do their homework, research and school projects. By giving them access to technology, Little Geeks is supporting our future generation, equipping them with the resources to improve their grades and achieve greater confidence in school.”

Little Geeks has been in operation since late 2007. To date, the charity has collected, refurbished, and redistributed more than 1,000 donated computers to children and families in need across the Toronto area.
