Alcatel continues to lead the worldwide market for digital subscriber line (DSL) equipment according to telecommunications industry analyst firm Dell’Oro, with a 36.9 per cent share of all lines shipped through the end of the third quarter 2003.

During the quarter, Alcatel shipped 4.28 million lines. To date, Alcatel has shipped over 33.6 million lines – more than four times the volume of any other DSL equipment supplier.

“The Q3 results verify that demand for broadband services remains strong, and DSL is clearly the technology of choice for operators seeking to deploy residential and business broadband solutions,” says Michel Rahier, COO of Alcatel’s fixed communications activities.

“Demand for broadband, coupled with technology advances in DSLAMs and the availability of innovative services, will continue to present many new growth opportunities over the near-term.”
