Calgary Economic Development (CED) has released a report that provides an overview of the advanced technology sector in the city.

The report, which provides information on the composition of the city’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, found that the city’s infrastructure, local initiatives, research, post-secondary educational support and government investments are all providing growth opportunities.

Over the last 10 years, ICT has become a major contributor to the strong economic growth in Calgary and Alberta, it concludes.

The sector includes over 2,400 companies and employs over 55,200 people , almost 10% of total employment in the Calgary region.
